- Your dryer will run more efficient with less breakdowns if you keep the vent behind your dryer clean with no kinks in the hose.
- Your fill hoses going to your washing machine should be changed at least every 5 years to prevent leaking or even a flood. Steal braded hoses are the best and most reliable.
- For top load washing machines, overloading will cause failures. A good rule of thumb is MORE WATER THAN CLOTHING.
- A common cause of leaks in front load washing machines is a grime/dirt build up on the bottom of the door. This doesn’t allow the door to seal properly.
- Front load washers have a problem with mildew, simply keeping the door open over night or after it is used will keep this problem to a minimum.
- Front load washing machines are notorious for not draining, Simply check your pockets before you do your laundry. This prevents the pump from getting clogged.
- Refrigerators, CLEAN the coils under your refrigerator. This will keep it running as efficient as possible.
- Filters for your refrigerator are more and more common. They should be changed every 6 months under normal use.
- Plastic water lines going to your refrigerator for ice and water is a recipe for disaster. The heat from the back will cause the plastic to get brittle and break.
- Dishwashers need to be cleaned too. Run it with TANG (the orange breakfast drink) every 6 months to clean out the unit. It’s the vitamin C in the drink. Fill the soap dish and run it
- Suds in the dishwasher, 1 tablespoon of olive oil will do the trick.
- Ovens/ stoves, never clean the inside glass door while the oven is hot, it will crack the glass.
- Clean your glass cooktop regularly. Comet and water will help.
